Word Weavers

A Club for

Writers

Writing can be a difficult and vulnerable task to attempt. In an effort to support local writers and offer encouragement to those with an interest in writing, we have a writing club that meets each month. And you don’t have to be an experienced writer to attend!

Word Weavers Information

Word Weavers began as primarily a Christian writer’s group over 20 years ago. We currently meet monthly on the second Saturday of each month to encourage each other as writers and participate in writing exercises, discussions about different types and forms of writing (stories, novels, poetry, short stories, etc.), and other writing activities.

Each month, we hold discussions about writing. We explore different techniques of writing – poetry, sonnets, how to write a novel, character development, setting a scene, we conduct writing critiques if requested to help writers grow, we bounce ideas off of one another, we collaborate on writing assignments and more.

When COVID isn’t around, we usually have a Spring field trip where we’ve gone to places like William Faulkner’s home in Oxford, Mississippi, we’ve discussed trips to Helen Keller’s home and other local writers.  In the Fall, we have a Retreat where we go somewhere different to write and spend time in writing and reflection – we have been to Chickasaw State Park, Natchez Trace State Park, and member’s homes.

Word Weavers dues are only $1.00 a month, $12.00 a year. To join, just attend a meeting and indicate that you want to join. It is that easy!
