Our services are
It’s important to us that everyone, regardless of ability, can use the resources we have available at the library. We have made the accommodations below and have taken care in making sure our website is accessible as well. If you have an accessibility request or recommendation, please contact us and let us know!
The Chester County Library has 2 handicap parking spaces right in front of our library entryways.
For our bookshelves in the young adult and adult fiction section, we do not use the very bottom shelf to make it easier for individuals in a wheelchair, walker, or with a disability to utilize our library. If you need help obtaining your books, please let our staff know.
We keep the space between our library stacks spacious enough so there’s ample access for wheelchairs.
Ample walkways are crucial for both accessibility and safety in the case of an emergency, so we have wide spaces between desks and stacks as well.
Low Checkout Counter
One end of our checkout counter is low to accommodate individuals who use a wheelchair.
The Chester County Library has a wheelchair-accessible computer station. We also have laptops that can be checked out and utilized at our tables within the library.
We have a screen magnifier that can help the visually impaired better see our computer monitors. To utilize this item, ask a front desk staff member.
We want our patrons to feel safe in our library so we’ve taken the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by adding plexiglass dividers between computer stations.
Yep, we did it – a picture of a toilet. We want you to know, however, that we do have a handicap stall in both our men’s and women’s restrooms. The hallway to both restrooms is spacious and it is easy to maneuver into each handicap-accessible bathroom.
Diaper Changing Stations
Diaper changing stations are available in both the women’s and men’s restrooms.
