ALL ABOUT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK CLUB
Since the summer of 2004, the library has offered a Middle School Book Club that meets every Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm during the months of June and July. Children who have finished third grade through fifth grade may participate, but each child must sign up to attend. A registration sheet is available at the library. Each week, the children receive a book that we will discuss the following week. The children are responsible for purchasing the book, but it will be bought at the library's cost, which is rarely over $5. The meetings consist of a brief discussion of the book, who liked it and who did not. We also do some type of game, activity, or art project that goes along with the book and a snack that follows the book as well. The Friends of the Library purchase book club t-shirts for members that the children help design and those are given out at our pizza party on the last meeting day of the summer.
Our first meeting of Middle School Book Club was Thursday, June 7, where it was revealed that our first book is - drumroll, please - Sideways Stories From Wayside School. It's not too late to join in the fun.
Come by or call us at 989-4673.
